What to bring for Kindergarten
Family Input sheets: This is a way for you to inform us of special events, interests, things that your child has been up to in the weekend etc. so that we can include this information into the curriculum. We may just talk to your child about the information, but it may also lead on to activities, books, investigation through the internet etc. You can find these sheets on a clip board underneath the sign in desk. Please leave the clipboard on top of the desk when you fill it in so we can find it. You can also email photos or write a story on kindy hub. If you do this, then please mention it to staff upon drop off so we can look at it in the morning with your child.
Daily Routine: We will display our timings within the classroom for you to look at. The preschool program runs from 8.30am – 4.30pm so being on time it is an important skill for you to foster in your child. Trying to be here for 8.30 in the morning helps prepare you both for the routine of going to school. We will be having a morning group time around 9-9.15am so that we can prepare the children for the day. This group time supports your children’s educational learning needs, so we ask that you try to be here for this. This routine helps you and your child to get into good habits for going to school. Formal planning and stories home via kindy hub, will begin the week of 28th January.
Sign in: Please remember to sign in on the ipad and sign out at the end of the day. There will still be a paper sheet to fill in to inform us on fruit, sunscreen and an opportunity for you to leave messages. Please also inform the office if there are updated contact details for you or any person on your sheet for contacting/picking up. Thanks
Water bottles: You do not need to bring water bottles as we provide children with cups at food times and encourage drinking from the bubbler at other times. We will introduce water bottles for all at the end of the year as part of our school readiness program. If you do bring a water bottle for your child, please ensure it is clearly named. Water bottles must stay in lockers, so they don’t get lost around the yard.
Clothing and Belongings: Please remember to name everything so that it can be returned to you. Children should have a change of clothes in case of getting wet outside or accidents. Please remember to dress your child in clothing for sun protection, i.e. sleeves rather than cap sleeves or frills and dresses with sleeves rather than strappy dresses.
